Unique kitchens

When designing your kitchen, we always want to make sure it is as functional as it can be. Having a clear program of what your needs are, allows for the designer to create a unique space for you. Kitchens are usually where people gather the most after the family room, so why not make it a one of a kind experience?

Bathrooms, how to achieve a minimal look

1. Try flushing the mirrors with the wall (the mirror will be mounted a few inches recessed into the wall).

2. Stick with a material. Do not go for too many materials. keep it clean and simple (it always works).

3. Stone slabs are always better than tiles. They add so much character.

4. If you want to add warmth to the space, just select the right stone!

5. Select fittings / fixtures that go with the style.

Designing for dogs

We do everything for our dogs, they are an integral part of our family. However, when we design a home, very rarely are the dogs needs taken under consideration. If they rule our world, why shouldn't they have a specific space on our homes?

Mud Room: Make it as beautiful as functional

Your mud room floor should be ideally a dark grey-brown stone / tile in order to avoid seeing all the mud at first sight. Easy to clean and disinfect is a must for this area, as your family will carry the outside in through this space.

Make sure that your individual hanging space is big enough to hang at least a couple of coats, and that there is enough shoe space for 2 pairs (one clean and one dirty).
Have a big sink in the mudroom if that is possible (it will help you deeply having somewhere to wash up the dirt).

Choose the millwork color that goes best with the rest of your house. In order to select the millwork shape and finishes, I would recommend you to match it to your Pantry or Kitchen cabinet details.
If you are thinking about having a cushion or some pillows, please make sure that the covers have zippers, and that they are machine washable.

To select a finish for your paint on that area, make sure that it is glossy or semi-gloss so that you can wipe with a damp cloth anytime you need to.

Learn how to pick your colors

If you are unsure about how to play with the colors of your interior, I would recommend you to start with a monochromatic scheme with different "Saturation values", or with a "Complimentary scheme". If you know a bit more about color, go for an "Analogous scheme". I would recommend you to stay away of the "Triadic scheme" as you need a bit more training on understanding how to make it work with "saturation" and "value".
