Rec Rooms: Play in style!

Rec rooms should not be that extra space or room in the basement you don't know what to do with, and decide to throw in a pool or ping pong table. The function of a Rec Room should be to have fun and make everyone in the room engage with the games and interact. That is why saturated colors and well matched patterns can help you achieve that!

No matter your style, the games should be placed in the center of the room with clearance around them for the players to move without obstacles, and seating should be arranged for the other people around the game allowing for visibility. Lighting is very important in a Rec / Game room (very good lighting is necessary) so that you do not end up blind after too many hours concentrating on the games.

Cy Twombly

The scale of these paintings is one of the things that makes each piece so impressive. This are just a few of my favorite pieces from the late works of Cy Twombly.

Neutral color schemes on the Family Room

The Family Room is meant to be a place to gather the family and feel comfortable. It makes sense then, that people like neutral colors that are easy on the eye and relax your mind in that space, giving off a casual ambiance.

Here are a few examples of different home styles that pulled the "neutral" scheme without looking boring. If you like these colors, try combining them with statement pieces or very textural elements.

Brass furniture

Brass is back! Not a lot of people like brass because they consider it a fancy metal, too gold looking. For the people who like it, it is not just a metal, but it adds wormth to any space. Here are a few pieces, some classic designs that I wish I could own, as well as some more contemporary pieces that will for sure make your place show off.

Colorful Stairs

Here are a few favorites on color. I love the idea of painting instead of creating a runner if you are not a big rug person! Also, how cool are the gradation hues for an office space?

Tees the season! with Candles

Prepare your candles for a romantic moment, the holidays, or just to simply relax! Use them to decorate your space, to set the mood, or as the perfect gift. However you use them is your choice, but one thing is for sure: Mix and Match is the trend! Not necessarily anymore with different colors, but different wood species, heights, widths, or variations in tone.

Trick: If you'll be placing candles on a table setting, choose an odd number (3 or 5). If you are getting more than 7 candles for multiple uses, then the number doesn't matter as long as you get enough to fill the space!
