How to select your drapes?

These days you can purchase drapes almost in every retail store, but trust me, it's not worth it! Most windows are different, and there is nothing like getting your drapes fitted for your room, selecting the perfect fabric, the lining, and style that suits your lifestyle! Bring the fabric you are in love with to your upholsterer / drapery or most alterations stores, and it will be worth it!

I would like to start with a little drawing of what not to do when selecting the length of your drapes, or where to place the rods. The higher in the room that you place the rod, the taller the ceilings will look.

Now that we've established the right height for your drapes, let's review the most common styles, pleats and lengths!

If you want to go for something more modern looking, I would recommend Ripple-fold or Rear Pleat. Euro Pleat can look modern or transitional depending on the fabric, and length, but it really depends of what you like! I personally like the breaking line, just because sometimes your drapes might shrink overtime when you put them in the wash.

If you want to make sure that the light does not go through the drapes, ask for a double lining or a black out lining. If you don't mind a bit of light, then regular lining should be good enough.

Now the fun part: select your fabric(s), and decide your style.
